What do they cost?

David charges £25ph excluding materials and travel with a minimum charge of £45.

On average this works out at around £10-£15 per chalkboard, but adding artwork, cartoons, logos, special fonts or lots of text will slow things down considerably and affect the price.

Preparation

David wants to keep his prices as low as possible for you so please be prepared for his visit by having all the information written down for when he arrives. The information should be clear to read and it should be clear which info is going on which board. David recommends Post-It notes attached to each board containing the relevant info, but all the info can be written on an A4 pad if preferred. David will generally keep an eye out for spelling mistakes and clumsy grammar and fix any other typos as he goes along.

David will choose the most logical layouts for each board and which words should be the most dominant.

You're welcome to paint the boards out before David arrives, or he can paint them for you. If you choose to paint them yourself, David recommends you use two coats of black Dulux Weathershield Smooth Masonry Paint. It's generally much cheaper than chalkboard paint, dries really fast and is a lot smoother than emulsion and other brands of masonry paint. (If you've already painted them with something else, don't worry, it'll be okay this time). Apply the paint with a 4" fluffy roller for a really flat finish and when you're done you can store the roller in the paint ready for next time.
